Gabriela + Scott’s Engagement Session – These two are beyond fun and cool to hang out with :). Gaby and Scott are two of the liveliest, carefree, yet nicest people I’ve ever met. Not to mention they like to throw some jokes and sarcasm at each other that made the e-session so much enjoyable. They can’t get their hands off each other but also aren’t shy about making fun of each other in all sorts of creative ways!

We went from the structures of the Getty Center, to the beaches of Venice, to the metal walls of Concert Hall, and finally to the bright laterns of old school Chinatown. Their wedding is going to be at Scott’s mom’s house in Pasadena – an intimate one with their closest people – in just a few weeks…I can’t wait!

Luisa + Rudy’s Wedding: 8/15/2009 – He’s cool, calm, sincere, and humble. She’s funny, sarcastic, spontaneous, and full of life. Together, Luisa and Rudy are a perfect match. A few Saturdays ago, I trekked over to the grounds of Altadena Country Club and photographed their big day. What I loved about Luisa and Rudy is how carefree and happy they were, which made my job so much easier and fun :). Plus their wedding also celebrated both the Korean (Luisa) and Mexican (Rudy) traditions. It was truly inspiring and touching to see two families of different culture and background come together for the bride and groom.

Their wedding had all the ingredients to make it a big hit: gorgeous venue, super cute kids running around, yummy details, memorable speeches by the MOH and BM, and emotions running high among everyone. One of my favorite moments of the day was seeing both Rudy and Luisa’s mom talking, laughing, and dancing together. Nothing gets to me more at a wedding than to see the parents happy and so proud of their kids. Special thanks to Will Kim and Brian Fletcher for helping me out!

Amy + Abraham’s Engagement Session – It’s quite amazing and funny how things tend to happen in the crazy world of wedding photography, whether it’s pure coincidence or for a particular reason. What turned out to be an e-mail inquiry on just an e-session from Amy and Abe turned into a full blown wedding package. More so, we developed a friendship over the numerous phone and e-mail conversations that we had. So when I finally met Amy and Abe in person, I had no doubt we were going to have the time of our lives at their e-session and wedding (in October).

Both are beyond sincere, kind, and simply awesome. I do have to pinch myself at times and ask what I did to deserve such wonderful people to work with. Amy, Abe, and I spent a whole afternoon, evening, and night venturing across various places in LA. We hit the Arboretum, followed by Pasadena City Hall, then onwards to Concert Hall, and finally to Union Station. They live life to the fullest without a care in a world: laughing, hugging, playing, and simply being themselves in front of the camera.

Thank you guys for finding the silly world of Henry Chen Photography and entrusting me with your big day. I know we’re going to have a ton of fun on 10/30. See you again very soon :).

Ann + Vince’s Wedding: 8/8/2009 – If you’ve been following my blog the past year or so, you might remember these two and just how much they mean to me and my photography business. I’ve had nothing but the utmost pleasure knowing Vince since we started working together two years ago. I met Ann a few months later and then last Winter, we were running through the streets of Rome and Paris together for their engagement session. They tied the knot on lucky August 8th in beautiful Seattle, Washington (Ann’s hometown).

The story is they met over half a decade ago at U-Dub (where Ann went to school and Vince was visiting and checking out the city for his engineering job). They battled through so much together and finally made it to the top of the mountain. I couldn’t be happier for two people and more proud of my co-worker/client/friend Vince for having a wonderful person by his side now in Ann. After a tea ceremony the day before, we got up bright and early on Saturday to start capturing their official wedding.

Congrats guys and thank you both so much for having me at your wedding. I had a great time exploring Seattle and spending the weekend with Ann, Vince, and all their guests! Glad you two are now back in Los Angeles :). And a special thanks to my good wedding photography friend Kenny Phan for making the trip up North with me. Thanks buddy, I couldn’t have done this without you!
