As most of you have heard by now, Japan was hit with several earthquakes and tsunamis this past week, leading to unimaginable devastation. Currently, there’s report that nuclear plants may be leaking chemicals/radiation into the environment. No matter what our current situation is, if we’re alive, we should all be doing our part to help the people of Japan immediately in any/every way we can.
I’d like to announce my wedding photography contest, where I’ll be donating 100% of my earnings on photographing a couple’s big day to an organization that will help towards rebuilding Japan. As an incentive for couples who are engaged and getting married (their family and friends can also nominate them), I’ll be reducing my proposed package of:
- 10 hours of wedding photography coverage
- Second photographer
- Online gallery for up to 6 months
- All high-res images on a DVD
normally valued at $5,000, to as low as $2,000. Every penny you invest in me will go towards the organization of your choice that’s aiding Japan. So the more you can give, the better. You also have the option of ordering prints and albums from me if you’d like. To enter this contest, please e-mail me (henry[at]henrychenphotography[dot]com) your name, contact info, wedding date and details, as well as a 2-3 paragraph explanation on how you and your fiance have impacted the lives of others. It doesn’t necessarily have to a large group of individuals, just that I’d like to know what/how you’ve done to better the people around you (can be family, friends, co-workers, strangers, etc.). Also, for privacy reasons, if you’re selected as the winner, you can let me know if you DON’T want me to mention this contest when I put together your wedding blog post with photos.
Deadline is midnight, Los Angeles time, at the end of this month on March 31st, 2011. I’ll be picking the winner during the first week of April and contact them via phone/e-mail. Your wedding does need to fall on a date I’m available and preferably in Southern California (to avoid travel cost). I’ll respond back to you within a few hours to let you know if I can photograph your big day :). Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions and feel free to share this contest with your family and friends. Even if you don’t enter, I sincerely hope you can donate a few dollars towards rebuilding Japan, or at least check up on people you know that have ties to that country. Thank you for your time!
