Jasmine + Estevan’s Wedding: 4/25/2009 – I had the first of a few back-to-back weddings this past Friday and Saturday. But being tired was the last thing on my mind when I began documenting Jasmine and Estevan‘s wedding day. Seeing Jasmine getting ready and later Estevan anticipating his bride walk down the aisle at Church of the Blessed Sacrament only provided my mind, body, and heart more energy and inspiration to paint their wedding images with my camera. I hate to brag but I must tell the world just how wonderful Jasmine and Estevan were to work with :).
I’ve never seen a happier and more calm bride than Jasmine the morning of her big day. My assistant Kenny and his wife/my second photographer Vanessa were also witnesses to Jasmine’s beautiful smiles and laughs that morning. She is a master of multi-tasking. On her own wedding day, she was happily helping others get ready, answering phone calls, and simply as easy-going as anyone could be without a care in the world. Plus she offered me some tacos ala King Taco style (someone must be following my Twitter :P). I joked with Jasmine on how she should let her bridesmaids do the work and not her! But being her thoughtful and sweet self, Jasmine went on and took care of everything.
And then there’s the ever so humble, considerate, and genuine Estevan. I honestly felt guilty being treated more like a guest than a vendor by Estevan. During the toasting and speeches, he publicly thanked Trini (who did an AMAZING job putting together this wedding and coordinating it) and me. Not only was I caught off-guard when he said this, but I was beyond touched and a bit embarassed (in a good way!). Thank you Estevan for doing that, it meant a ton to me, more than words could say! But that’s just the kind of person Estevan is and one that I’ll always admire and respect. He’s always thinking about others and making sure they are doing okay before even beginning to think about himself.
As I look back at the images from their wedding day, I’m constantly reminded of just how wonderful Jasmine and Estevan are and how much fun I had that day. Sure my feet were killing me and I was running off a few hours of sleep (like I always do, woohoo!), but none of that matter nor did it affect me one bit. All I remember was being able to experience two amazing people fall in love all over again and celebrate that one-of-a-kind love with their guests. I remember the look Estevan had when he saw Jasmine for the first time. I remember the limo ride up the mountain to Castaway Restaurant and how much we laughed in it when Estevan decided to drink a little and dance in front of Jasmine. Most of all, I remember two crazy kids giving me a chance to live in YOUR moments. Thank you Jasmine and Estevan. For everything.
