Getty Villa Engagement Session Photos: Shirley + Philip

Shirley + Philip’s Engagement Session – Meet Shirley and Philip. Two uber genius and silly kids in love who met in a computer science class at UC Berkeley a few years ago. The one thing I’m still trying to figure out is who noticed who first :). I “met” Shirley at a USC Systems Architecture and Engineering course about two summers ago for our Masters program. We both took the course online and had a blast procrastinating our class assignments and projects until the very last minute. Bless Professor Bottlik, who by the way, seemed to be more interested in my photography than teaching…hmmm. Actually, if Shirley can help me out, what class did we take together? I just remember it had to do with drawing lots of block diagrams and arrows :P.

Fast forward a year or so later. I finally had the chance to meet Shirley and Philip in person and discuss photography for their wedding. Turns out Philip actually works very close to where I live/work in El Segundo. I’d tell everyone where but then you’ll all be asking him for free high definition cable channels ;). I couldn’t have asked for a more sweet and easy-going couple. And it has nothing to do with the fact that Shirley is way smarter than me and Philip loves the NBA as much as I do. Nope, nothing at all. Plus, looking at their Facebook page, I think they’ve attended more weddings as guests than I’ve photographed at :P. It just shows how cool and popular they are lol.

All kidding aside, I really enjoyed seeing them again this past Sunday and photographing their e-session at The Getty Villa in Malibu. We were supposed to stop by Santa Monica Pier and Beach afterwards but after looking at the super duper long Memorial Day traffic line and the vast number of people on the pier and beach, we might need to make a rain check and come back at another time. Their September wedding at La Venta Inn is going to be off the hook fun! See you both again soon :).
