Kristin’s Photo Shoot

Disclaimer: the funny thing about being a photographer is I can take literally thousands and thousands of photos without a problem but I dread writing a decent paragraph that explains how/why I took certain photos or simply how the day went. If you’re curious on how I took a particular shot (what my camera settings were, how I dealt with lighting and compsitition, how I post-processed the image, etc.), please feel free to drop me a comment and I’ll be sure to address your question. Thanks!

So going back to this photo shoot with Kristin… First off, let me publicly thank (and embarass!) her for being a great friend and wonderful model. Not only is Kristin an amazing dancer (for the Clippers and several other organizations), but she’s also in superb shape being an athletic/fitness trainer. She’s totally insane for waking up every morning at 5AM! How this girl does it I’ve no idea but I’m sure impressed.

We intended to start the day off at Travel Town but the lame security guards didn’t allow us to shoot there. Seriously, just because I was carrying a huge camera and Kristin was wearing a stunning green dress didn’t necessarily mean we were going to do a photo shoot :). We ended going to a train and bus station in Burbank and then to the Getty Center, one of my all-time favorite places to do photography at.

For this particular photo shoot, I tried to incorporate the environment into the images without it being too much of a distraction to the subject. I’m a sucker for lines, blurry backgrounds/foregrounds, and interesting vantage points. I also really wanted to bring out Kristin’s personality in her photos. She’s an amazing person with a heart that’s all about helping others and a smile that melts ice cream even on a cold day. Thanks again Kristin, especially for the awesome Starbucks gift card. It’s going to come in very handy this week at my engineering work, when I’ll be needing all the coffee I can get to stay awake during those meetings :).
