What a difference a year makes. Seems like the streak of heading out of the country around Christmas and New Years continues through 2012. I made a promise to myself that I’ll always spend the holidays in a new country, and am really excited to finally set foot in Argentina, Brazil, and Peru. It’s been an amazing year, with so many surprises, good and bad. The great thing is I wouldn’t change any of it as everything has led me to this particular point in my life.
I know it may sound a bit repetitive, but seriously, I can’t thank my clients, friends, and family enough. Combine that with the crazy world of photography and the NBA, there’s more than enough reasons for me to wake up every morning and have a good sleep every night, even if it’s only for an hour or two :).
As much as I love everyone that has made an impact on my life, even if it was just a hello from a stranger or an inquiry that fell through, to individuals that I consider my dearest friends and of course my mom, dad, and sister, 2011 was a year for me to live life to the fullest and try/do/be new things. And leaving to South America is just icing on the cake.
With wedding photography, I feel so blessed to have met so many amazing individuals. Not just the couples, but their parents, friends, and vendors. Traveling to a dozen plus countries and shooting over fifty weddings kept me busy and at many times crazy, but nothing beats being at home and spending that time with family and friends.
With the NBA lockout being over and the season officially starting on Christmas Day, I can’t tell you how excited (trying to hold back the tears, seriously) for my beloved Clippers team. In 25 years of watching them, the team has never been this talented or had a future this bright. I don’t want to count my chickens before they hatch, but if/when they make the Playoffs, wherever their away games are, Dallas, Oklahoma City, Asia, Antarctica, I WILL BE THERE.
Of course, a meeting with the Lakers will simply be epic :). The only way to overcome your worst enemy is to face them right? I can only hope and pray that Internet and television in South America will be decent, and show some of the NBA highlights. Missing the Clips season opener and about a dozen games or so…well, really sucks :(.
Last, and most important thing…everything indeed happens for a reason. There’s been so many memorable quotes at weddings, but one of my favorites is, “I’ve waited my entire life for you. So waiting another 10 mins won’t be a problem at all.” Life sure is easier to live when you know who you want to spend it with :). On that note, here’s to ending 2011 with a bang. Happy holidays to everyone, see you all on the other side!
